【摘要】:Theabilityofaplasticmaterialtoresistdeteriorationofitselectrical,mechanical,andopticalpropertiescausedbyexposuretolight,heat,andwatercanbeverysignificantformanyapplications.Thispracticeisintendedtoinducepropertychangesassociatedwithend-useconditions,includingtheeffectsofsunlight,moisture,andheat.Theexposureusedinthispracticeisnotintendedtosimulatethedeteriorationcausedbylocalizedweatherphenomena,suchas,atmosphericpollution,biologicalattack,andsaltwaterexposure.(Warning8212;Variationinresultsmaybeexpectedwhenoperatingconditionsarevariedwithintheacceptedlimitsofthispractice.Therefore,noreferencetotheuseofthispracticeshallbemadeunlessaccompaniedbyareportpreparedinaccordancewithSection9thatdescribesthespecificoperatingconditionsused.RefertoPracticeG151fordetailedinformationonthecaveatsapplicabletouseofresultsobtainedinaccordancewiththispractice.)Note28212;Additionalinformationonsourcesofvariabilityandonstrategiesforaddressingvariabilityinthedesign,execution,anddataanalysisoflaboratory-acceleratedexposuretestsisfoundinGuideG141.Reproducibilityoftestresultsbetweenlaboratorieshasbeenshowntobegoodwhenthestabilityofmaterialsisevaluatedintermsofperformancerankingcomparedtoothermaterialsortoacontrol.4,5Therefore,exposureofasimilarmaterialofknownperformance(acontrol)atthesametimeasthetestmaterialsisstronglyrecommended.Itisrecommendedthatatleastthreereplicatesofeachmaterialbeexposedtoallowforstatisticalevaluationofresults.TestresultswilldependuponthecarethatistakentooperatetheequipmentinaccordancewithPracticeG152.Significantfactorsincluderegulationoflinevoltage,freedomfromsaltorotherdepositsfromwater,temperatureandhumiditycontrol,andconditionsoftheelectrodes.1.1Thispracticecoversspecificproceduresandtestconditionsthatareapplicableforexposureofplasticsinfilteredopen-flamecarbon-arcdevicesconductedinaccordancewithPracticesG151andG152.Thispracticealsocoversthepreparationoftestspecimens,thetestconditionsuitedforplastics,andtheevaluationoftestresults.1.2Thispracticedoesnotcoverenclosedcarbon-arcexposuresofplastics,whichhadbeenallowedinPracticeD1499.Enclosedcarbon-arcexposuresofplasticsaredescribedinPracticeD6360,andinG153,whichgivesrequirementsforexposingnonmetallicmaterialsinenclosedcarbon-arcdevices.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Note18212;ThispracticeistechnicallyequivalenttoISO4892-4.
