【摘要】:Thistestmethodprovidesasimpleprocedureforobtaininginformationonthefiberlengthdistributionofsuitableasbestosfiber.Theuseofrelativelylowcostapparatus,smalltestspecimens,andashorttestperiod,enhancetheusefulnessofthistestmethod.Normally,resultsobtainedbythistestmethodarereproducibleundercomparablelaboratoryconditions.However,closeagreementcannotbeexpectedunlessalldeviationsfromtheprocedure,howeverminor,areavoided.Moreover,resultsforlongerfibergradesareinfluencedtoagreaterextentbydifferencesinfiberlengthdistribution,andcharacteristics,thanarethoseforshortergrades.Thistestissuitableforspecificationacceptanceandmanufacturingcontrol.Itisassumedthatallundersizedfibers,andonlythose,willpassthroughanygivensieveaperture.However,thisidealizedconditionisnotnormallyachieved.Thus,resultsshouldnotbemisconstruedastruelengthdistributiondata.1.1ThistestmethodcoverstheoperationoftheTurnerandNewall(TandN)wetsievingclassifierforasbestos,andaprocedureforthedeterminationoffiberlengthdistributionandfines(definedinTerminologyD2946)contentofmilledasbestosfiber(74m(200mesh))sievedescribedinSpecificationE11.1.2Forpurposesofestimatinglengthdistribution,thetestislimitedtosamplesfreefromexcessivequantitiesofnon-fibrousparticlesorcontaminants.Quantitiesexceeding0.05gretainedinanygivenlengthfractionsareconsideredexcessive.1.3Forcomparisonsbetweendifferentfibergrades,onlythosespecimenswhichhaveapproximatelythesamedegreeoffiberizationasdeterminedbyTestMethodsD2752willgivecompletelymeaningfulresults.1.4Thistestmethodisnotapplicabletoultrafinegradesofasbestospowderswhichcontainlittleornofibersretainedona74-m(200mesh)sieve.ThismethodisrestrictedtoQuebecStandardgrades4Ato7DinclusiveasdeterminedbyTestMethodD3639.Note1ThisisanalternativeproceduretoTestMethodD2589.1.5ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.6Warning-Breathingofasbestosdustishazardous.Asbestosandasbestosproductspresentdemonstratedhealthrisksforusersandforthosewithwhomtheycomeintocontact.Inadditiontootherprecautions,whenworkingwithasbestos-cementproducts,minimizethedustthatresults.Forinformationonthesafeuseofchrysoltileasbestos,referto"SafeUseofChrysotileAsbestos:AManualonPreventiveandControlMeasures."Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Foraspecifichazardstatement,see.
